BHP Mining

Intro
BHP are among the world's top producers of commodities, including iron ore, copper, nickel and metallurgical (steelmaking) coal. Here with BHP they wanted me to test their UI Designs against the user stories created earlier.BHP has a an 2 web application where one applications main purpose is to track down Truck Health and create the reports about its maintenance. It will generate full report of Truck used in the mining
Discovery phase
It's a substantial project involving numerous teams. The application is owned by GE, serving as the primary vendor. However, the BHP team aimed to enhance it into a user-ready application by incorporating the BHP brand wherever feasible. The web app is subject to various constraints; obtaining permissions for code changes or basic features requires extensive processes. Design freedom is limited, particularly as the data from the trucks is real-time. As a UX/UI Designer, my task was to identify the most effective ways to integrate design within the constraints of the tools accepted by the system, resembling the development of a desktop application.
Approach
Project follows Discover. Define. Design .Evaluate. User Centric Design Method.
I was involved mainly in to Discover phase. As the process of Heuristic evaluation our process methods are
Methodology - a method of examining an existing user interface design to discover usability concerns. Using Heuristic Evaluation Tool and 7 Guiding Principles, a user experience architect inspects the user interface, determines usability problems and recommends solutions.
Potential issues are categorized according to 7 Guiding Principles for usability. To ensure a Good user experience in any UI design, it is essential to adhere to 7 guiding principles such as simplicity, efficiency, intuitiveness, engagement, supportiveness, accessibility, and a clear structure.
Every pages has to be throughly tested against the 7 Principles and severity scale should be give for each page ranging from 5-1 (Urgent concern to Low concern) .
Severity Scale is a combination of 3 factors :
Frequency - Is it common or rare?
Impact - Will it be easy or difficult for the users to overcome?
Persistence - Will users repeatedly be bothered by the problem?Executieve Summary
The pages were inspected through task-oriented activities against the guiding principles for overall usability. High level usability concerns are categorized by strengths and areas for improvement below.
In this sections we got to provide the 2 findings summary which are :
What works well and What needs improvement
Provide high level slide which consist of whole Usability concerns identified for BHP OSI PI Web applicationFindings
Detailed Findings and Recommendations. This sections consist of every single page in the whole web application should be throughly compared with the Guiding principles which explaining the Usability opportunities , the problem and its recommendation. Which i went a extra mile and gave them the example side by side with proper images with explanation .Text Steps
Use this heuristic evaluation as a baseline to develop a future visioning plan to provide a holistic vision for BHP Web Portal

Conclusion & Reflections
The images above offer a glimpse into the Heuristic evaluation process, with the team receiving comprehensive reports. During this project, I collaborated with individuals involved in client engagement, including PMO, Leads, and Australian Fjord team leads, to gain a holistic perspective. My specific focus was on the Heuristic evaluation, and I utilized detailed documentation available on MURAL. This proved invaluable in becoming acquainted with personas and user stories throughout the project journey.
